My suggestion on this one is that severity of alerts depends on who you
are. Everybody should be able to define it for themselves.
I envision a checker screen with several areas. When a new message
arrrives, it gets put into an area of its own. The user may then select
it and move it to one of the other areas. Everything with the same
message is thereafter directed to the same area, from whatever antenna.
What goes to which area is remembered in a .rc file, so that a given
user always gets the same ordering by importance (Or however he chooses
to define the usage of his areas).
Each user has to spend a little time training his checker screen, but it
is then very flexible and powerful.
