CAN = Half Duplex, so we choke communications off the bat.

If a computer is placed out in the antenna, then why not VLBA MCB's

Full Duplex, Last code revision = over a decade.  Failures ~ 10/year.

A revamp of the VLBA MCB is easy.  Why I could still use the TC11IB or any
other device that has a serial port with ~2K of on-chip memory.  Maybe
a bit more if we go to SLIP or PPP.

However, I still think that ethernet will give us both hardware and software
advantages for the future.  The drawbacks mentioned by Bruce for me says
why we shouldn't go to CAN or VLBA MCB's.
