[daip] Issue with AIPS_ROOT is not a directory for 31DEC23 {External}

Because you are on Redhat 8 you will need to run aips and emacs in
separate xterms. You need the library path to the older libraries to use
the Redhat 7 compiled load modules. Try "which aips" to see where the
symbol aips is pointing. That could be in error due to your ftp issues.
The command
$AIPS_ROOT/START_AIPS is where aips should be pointing. You can check the
definition in that file to make sure it is correct.
