I worry that Bryan Butler's comments might confuse you.It is true that the JVLA and ALMA allow "intents" on scansand even sub-scans.  AIPS was written well before thosearrays and does not even have a true concept of"scans".  The old VLA had a "calcode" that representedthe quality of the source position, so calcode ended upas a source parameter.  AIPS does now have an index tableto speed time and source selection - LISTR with OPTYPE'SCAN' will show you in a nice form.  This can help youto set time ranges and the like.Why are you separating the different scans on the cal sourcefor different intents?  I could see doing BPASS only for longerscans, but it should be a good phase calibrator all the time.Eric Greisen
