I worry that Bryan Butler's comments might confuse you.<br />It is true that the JVLA and ALMA allow "intents" on scans<br />and even sub-scans. AIPS was written well before those<br />arrays and does not even have a true concept of<br />"scans". The old VLA had a "calcode" that represented<br />the quality of the source position, so calcode ended up<br />as a source parameter. AIPS does now have an index table<br />to speed time and source selection - LISTR with OPTYPE<br />'SCAN' will show you in a nice form. This can help you<br />to set time ranges and the like.<br /><br />Why are you separating the different scans on the cal source<br />for different intents? I could see doing BPASS only for longer<br />scans, but it should be a good phase calibrator all the time.<br /><br />Eric Greisen
