I do not know what is the matter for your installation.My new Mac mini at 10.13 was delivered and    perl install.pl -nworked perfectly except that I needed to install XQuartzto get the XWindows functions.  I have yet to try localcompilation but I  think few users do that on Macs.  Ijust fixed the Mac compile scripts to know about gfortran.I do have sudo privilege on my machine but did not haveto invoke it except for the fix_aips_elcap.sh script.Eric Greisen
