Three questions:1. Why are you compiling locally - do you plan to write your own AIPS tasks?2. Where did you find such an old compiler?  gfortran is up around version 7at present and I do not think gfortran even had versions less than 4.  Iseem to remember g77 as 2.95.  gfortran started to work with version 5 somethingversions 4 something mostly had strange problems.3  Are you using a 32-bit computer?  The addressing issues you report suggestthat you are, or have chosen to force AIPS to think you are.Eric Greisen
