I misread this when you sent it yesterday and I tried the ./START_AIPS command and it works, yay. However now it won't take ANY user number. It just keeps asking (well except for user number 1, it takes that but it then asks for a password). So I am not much farther.

BTW, my /usr/local/lib permissions are not all executable as you said they should be but there are some links pointing to most that aren't. My admin doesn't recommend changing them.

Does the user number problem ring any bells?
