X Windows systems use a .Xdefaults file from your home area
to define many parameters which can be accessed by programs
such as XAS. The full set is described in HELP XAS and includes
a parameter that turns off shared memory. I suspect that you
need this .Xdefaults file in the home area of the Mac and it will
be examined via XAS. As you see it does say what it tries to do.
Hopefully this will work. The non-specific error messages from
XWindows are frustrating.
