If the .Xdefaults thing does not work, you could try
re-making the XAS binary.   In $TST/Y/SERVERS/XAS
is an expanded set of the routines in XAS.  The
Makefile may be edited to remove the -DUSE_SHM
part of the OSOPTS_xxxx where xxxx is the $ARCH
of the CentOS machine - probably LNX64 or LINUX.

If it is LNX64 you may also need top edit CC_LNX64
and LOCALOPTS_LNX64 in the Makefile.

Then enter
make clean
make

This will turn of shared memory completely.
