I have been given a test system to try (located 2000 miles from my office)
and have confirmed your problem.  It may be that we cannot support El Cap
for a while.  I do not know what has failed - the OS could use some new
way to specify libraries or it could be refusing to read the old ones generated with 
the compiler we have used until now.  I am getting help to look at this.

It is never wise to move forward as you have done.
