This just does not compute:

There can be no more than one error message per line in the input text file
and you have way too many messages for the 11 line file you have shown me.

One question that does occur to me - are the columns in the 2192_D.pos
separated by blanks or Tab characters.  The latter is a very bad idea but
the code does defend itself from Tabs.

Try something outside AIPS

more /Users/jujuB/AIPS_ROOT/FITS/2192_D.pos

does this show the file you think it should?

I am otherwise baffled.
