I have split the file into 4 pieces, the first 3 of which are 32 Mbytes 
in size.  ftp the pub/software/aips/31DEC11/ area files x00, x01, x02, 
x03, and x04.  When they are copied in full

cat x0? > 31DEC11.tar.gz

and you should be able to install it.
