New Staff Reply: TASK 'FRING': FIT DID NOT CONVERGE FOR IF N

Dear Alina,

The result of FRING with your data is not so bad.

You can read at the end:
"Found 270 good solutions
 Failed on 170 solutions"

Also, FRING reports you: "FIT did not converge for IF 6" at the majority of cases.
This means there is a problem with this IF and FRING help you to identify this fact.

Another consideration: your data includes only 4 antennas. Therefore you ask FRING
to find solution for 4 antennas having only 6 baselines. For comparison: at the VLBA case
solution for 10 antennas is provided having 45 baselines!!!

So taking into account that IF=6 does not work properly and that the number of antennas =4 is small,
FRING works correctely.

You can try more playing with the windows sizes (DPARM(2), DPARM(3)).
All messages provided by FRING at your file very clear. Actually they are many times repeated
short messages:
"FIT DID NOT converge for IF 6
 This probably means...
 .......
"
Please read help file for FRING, if you want to understand this program better.

Good luck

Leonid Kogan
