Hello,

I just recently upgraded a Mac from Tiger to Snow Leopard and after
updating Aips, I have now some problems with the TVServer. I followed
all the tricks you highlights in your webpage but I still cannot get it
to run.

Here's what's happening with the few techniques I tried.

Just a note that, on Tiger, I used the command:
STAR_AIPS tv=local
which worked quite well.

If I try using on: START_AIPS there is no tvserver window but
there is a .TVSRV.EXE process running.

1] So, following your suggestions, I first tried:

setenv DISPLAY localhost:0
source /Users/aipsmng/LOGIN.CSH
/Users/aipsmng/STAR_AIPS

--> a password is asked and then, I am able to get into aips but
there is no tvserver, no msgserver, and no tekserver windows
opening. Only TPMON is activated in the list of process. Also,
if I try to do, say "mcat", it ask for a password.

I did the "sshkeygen" in my .ssh folder but I could not find a way,
in the "system preference/firewall" to select the port numbers. The
system preference of Snow Leopard has changed a lot since Tiger.
My /etc/services file does include the Aips TCP/UDP ports.

2] If I do not set the DISPLAY, but instead use the old way, i.e.
STAR_AIPS tv=local, then, only the msgserver and tekserver windows
open, but no tvserver.

it seems to start a ./TVSRV.EXE process though when I check with "ps -ef"

Is there a new way, with Snow Leopard to fix these problems?

Thanks - Sylvie.
