[daip] problem with running aips

Hi,
I've installed AIPS in a Linux machine. The installation
process apparently went well, however when I execute
the aips command, after sourcing the LOGIN.CSH file, I
get the error:

START_AIPS: AIPS_ROOT is not a directory; cannot start AIPS.

The variable AIPS_ROOT is correctly defined, however it gets
redefined as:
AIPS_ROOT=/home/AIPS
in the 31DEC08/LINUX/SYSTEM/IAC/aips file (line 91).

Is this an error, or is there a specific reason for this
redefinition?
