[daip] AIPS install failure

Hello,

I'm failing catastrophically at installing AIPS for the first time. My
machine is running linux (RHEL). I've solved quite a few problems along
the way, but I've had less luck with the following failure. 

When it starts FILAIP, I get: 
# interactive AIPS, # batch queues (2 I)
 ZMSGOP: FILE DA01:MSD001000.001;      NOT FOUND
MSGWRT ERROR      2 AT OPEN
FILAI1: ZCREA2: ERROR CREATING SPACE LOCK FILE = DA00:SPACE
 ZMSGOP: FILE DA01:MSD001000.001;      NOT FOUND
MSGWRT ERROR      2 AT OPEN
FILAI1: ZERROR: ON FILE DA00:BQD000000;
 ZMSGOP: FILE DA01:MSD001000.001;      NOT FOUND
MSGWRT ERROR      2 AT OPEN
FILAI1: ZERROR: IN ZCREA2 ERRNO = 2 (No such file or directory)
 ZMSGOP: FILE DA01:MSD001000.001;      NOT FOUND
MSGWRT ERROR      2 AT OPEN
FILAI1: FILE TYPE BQ CREATE ERROR      4
 ZMSGOP: FILE DA01:MSD001000.001;      NOT FOUND
MSGWRT ERROR      2 AT OPEN
FILAI1: ZCREA2: ERROR CREATING SPACE LOCK FILE = DA00:SPACE
 ZMSGOP: FILE DA01:MSD001000.001;      NOT FOUND
MSGWRT ERROR      2 AT OPEN

and so on for a good number of lines. I'm not really sure what it's
looking for, but I'll bet it's simple. 

Any advice would be appreciated.
