Actually it said a bit more than this.  You are giving me the last
summary lines but the serious error message, telling me what needs
fixing, you have omitted.  My bet is that the readline file needed for
link edit, or lncurses, was not found by the linker.

Note - if you add the 0-byte file RSYNC.ME to your $SYSLOCAL area and
run the mnj ($HOME/do_daily.<hostname>) it will install the load
modules from the IBM compiler.  They run about 30% faster than the gnu
compiler load modules.  This is a simple way to switch from
user-compiled to binary installation.
