[daip] AIPS under Fedora Core and g77/gcc 3.4.4

Dear Robert,

Eric is at the AAS meeting until the end of the week.  There are no 
specific Fedora Core problems that we know about, but we do not have a 
Fedora Core machine here so we are relying on bug reports, and there 
just seem to be compiler issues.   Also, gcc/g77 3.4.4 seems to work fine.
