Yes - this is a mess that Macs got into and it seems just not to go
away.  Many system libraries have this reference and none satisifies
it.  The readline that you have built is the culprit.

But we have a better solution.  The binary distribution is done with
the IBM compiler which is expensive but musch better.  You do not need
the compiler, just get the binaries from us.  Copy the 31DEC04 or
31DEC05 version of install.pl to the area you want as $AIPS_ROOT and
do a

perl install.pl -n

If you do it for 4=31DEC05 you can run the MNJ to keep up to date also
using binary.  Note you do need to have XWindows and cvs in any case.

Also note that the daip at nrao.edu address gets helpo even when I am on
vacation.
