This message makes me wonder if you have the needed system
services set up but is almost certainly unrelated to the following.

I do not see how a disk read can return a short record in the middle
of a file with 453 records each 2880 bytes I expect thereafter. I
would have thought that Unix disk files are just byte streams and
would give you the number of bytes you ask for until the end anyway.
The VLA produces - as my colleagues have said - data in its own
internal format which must so far be read from tape not disk in AIPS.
These data are often read in by FILLM and then written back out with
FITTP by the analysts here in Socorro. Those files are then ftp'd to
remote sites and are read back in to AIPS with UVLOD or FITLD.
It is not clear to me which sort of data you might have. and this 453
records skipped is very serious even if the record length one were
not. Is there anything in the TEST.C BAND.2 file? Use IMHEAD, PRTUV
on it.
Please also do an ls -l on $DATA/AE146.020502.C
Thanks you,
