Hi Pat,
 
FWIW,  I  ran the Y2K DDT test on a new Athlon PC we just set up. 
 
Aipsmark_Y2K = 60.1. 
 
Details:
 
Athlon XP 1700+
1 GB memory
2x100 GB EIDE disks with tuning: hdparm -m 16
RH 7.2, gcc 2.95
 
Not a bad little box, considering it cost about  $1500.
