When did you get the 31DEC01.tar.gz file, and when did you get the
31DEC01.tar.gz.md5sum file?  They are generated nightly, so if you got one
one day and the other a different day, they will not match.

I'd strongly advise against using so old a version.  A *lot* has changed,
and there have been very many bug fixes and improvements.

PS. note our timestamps on the files; as you can see they're generated
    shortly after midnight US/Eastern time.  Avoid getting them between
    midnight and about 00:30, please.
