Jim,

Yes, I share your worry.
Originaly I was going to do even more allowing INFILE's instruction
work together with
the instructions given at the input parameters: TIMERANG, BIF, EIF...

It would be even more dangerous to make accident flagging.

At last AIPS meeting we decided to minimize the accident flagging
allowing elevation given at APARM work together with INFILE.
(Later I adde pulse cal given at APARM also)

UVFLG gives the following warning now in the presence of INFILE.

UVFLG1: |You are using INFILE data to flag the UV data |
UVFLG1: |Only elevation and pulse cal work together |
UVFLG1: |with INFILE. |
UVFLG1: |All other instructions given at the input |
UVFLG1: |parameters such as TIMERANG, BIF, EIF,..are not|
UVFLG1: |used in the flagging. |

I hope this warning can help minimising the accident.

But...

I'm a bit worried that this is not the right thing to do.
I suspect that some users will try to flag with an infile
when they have left over parameters in APARM, and will
end up flagging lots of data by accident. I prefer the
method where you make the user take two positive steps
to do the flagging, as long as we make it clear that
this is what is needed.

Opinions?
