Dear all,

I wonder if you have ever come across such a combination:

1. AIPS (ver.15OCT99) is run either under Solaris 2.6 or 7 with a command:

aips da=taurus

2. Disks are allocated according to the following DADEVS.LIST file:

- /AIPSDA/GALILEO_1
- /AIPSDA/GALILEO_2
- /AIPSDA/HEVELIUS_1
- /AIPSDA/HEVELIUS_2
- /AIPSDA/TAURUS_1

Galileo is Sun Ultra running under Sol. 2.6, Hevelius is Sun Ultra
running under Sol.7, Taurus is Linux with kernel 2.2.16.

3. With Solaris 2.6 all works fine - e.g. AIPS "free" command gives:

AIPS 1: Disk Volume name Total Full Free Timd Access
AIPS 1: # blocks % blocks days
AIPS 1: 1 /AIPSDA/GALILEO_1 6381224 95 323276 999.0 Alluser
AIPS 1: 2 /AIPSDA/GALILEO_2 4464358 85 655423 999.0 Alluser
AIPS 1: 3 /AIPSDA/TAURUS_1 14845728 2 13762824 999.0 Alluser

Under Solaris 7 - AIPS hangs after having prompted:

AIPS 1: Enter user ID number
?

What's wrong?

Andrzej
