[daip] strange tape problem

I tried your tape thing using a DAT from mu Linux machine.  I do not
have a tape drive so it had to be remote, but the file locking TPD..
is then done on both the local Linux and the remote Solaris machine.
It works even on my (fake) ROTMES image.  Maybe there is something
about the tape drive directly mounted on Linux or something about the
contents of the image.

Did you ever resolve the problems with EDITR or EDITA that you were
having?
