	MODEST 17 Under Prague's Starry Skies

	Prague, Czech Republic, September 18 - 22, 2017

MODEST is an eponymous series of conferences organized by the MODEST 
initiative which started 15 years ago. Their scientific focus is nicely 
described by decoding the acronym: Modeling and Observing DEnse STellar 
systems. So far, the meetings have been held in almost every corner of the 
world. Next time, it will move to Prague, a city in the heart of Europe where 
astronomers and physicists have shaped the knowledge of mankind throughout 
history.

The conference will focus on the following main topics:

- Galactic centre / nuclear star clusters
- Young star clusters and star forming regions
- Stellar dynamics and numerical methods
- Stellar populations in star clusters
- Blue stragglers / stellar collisions and their products
- Compact objects in star clusters
- Astrophysical sources of gravitational waves
- Dynamics of (exo)planetary systems in star clusters
- New observational frontiers (LIGO, GAIA, JWST, FAST...)

The registration fee is estimated to be 250–350 €. We will do our best to 
reduce it through local funding resources and to offer an additional reduction 
for colleagues with limited funding options.
