We are pleased to announce the release of APLpy 0.9.5, which includes
many new features, bug fixes, and improvements.

APLpy is a Python module that makes it easy to interactively produce
publication-quality plots of astronomical images in FITS format. More
details are available at http://aplpy.sourceforge.net

This release includes new features such as the ability to show beams,
scalebars, colorbars, ds9 region files, and supports slicing of multi-
dimensional FITS cubes and smoothing of images/contours. More details
on the changes in this version are available in the release notes
available from the APLpy homepage.

We have created a quick reference guide to give users an overview of
all the methods available in APLpy:

http://aplpy.sourceforge.net/documentation/quick_reference.html

An optional auto-installation script is now available to install APLpy
and all dependencies (except matplotlib and numpy). See the following
page for more details:

http://aplpy.sourceforge.net/install.php

We have now created two Google Groups - one for announcements:

http://groups.google.com/group/aplpy-announce

and one for user discussion:

http://groups.google.com/group/aplpy-users

The latter will now replace the APLpy forums. Bug reports and feature
requests should be submitted to the Sourceforge trackers at:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=254216

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you encounter any problems
with this release,

Cheers,

Thomas Robitaille, Eli Bressert, and Adam Ginsburg
