    The problem with ea08, in IFs A and C is not that there were 
cross-polarized, but that they *are now* cross-polarized. 
    All the missing fringes are in the cross-hand channels ... 
      
    Is there anybody available to swap cables at this late hour?

they were cross-polarized (fibers or cables downstream, not the polarizer)
