    Ken swapped the data paths in the station board. 

    The result of this is that the noise statistics swapped 
polarizations -- the rms noise in LCP is now much higher, the noise in 
RCP is much lower.  The problem then lies upstream of this swap. 

    What's next?

This time I adjusted the downconverter attenuators to achieve
optimal smapler RMS, and then swapped the data paths in the
station board input chips.  This has the effect of sending
IF A data down the path formerly used by IF C and vice versa.

ea27 was working this time!
