[evla-sw-discuss] evlamon, the main monitor data archive

Update - Oracle still hasn't responded to our service request.
Matt and I have been working the entire weekend to restore the
database with no success. Our only alternative at this point is
to rebuild it from scratch. We have the data, so can do this -
it's exported to an external file daily.

I will start the rebuild tomorrow morning and keep you posted.
The problem with all of this is the large amount of data.
Whatever we do takes hours to complete.

Meanwhile, the monitor data continues to write to the standby
database - monstdby on r2d2.

Thanks again for your patience. Please thank Matt Gardiner for
all his efforts. After working a 12 hour shift at the VLA on
Saturday, he worked all night trying to resolve this. He
researched what backup files were needed, gathered them from
various sources and created the restore procedure. It worked, but
in the end, the database still had a corrupted file. Why Oracle
thinks it's ok to restore a database and leave it corrupted is
beyond us.

Cheers,
Pat
