From May through September of 2004 six members of the EVLA
Computing Division met to consider the nature and needs
of communication among distributed processes within the
EVLA Monitor and Control System. The most basic issue
considered by this group was the question of whether
RPC-style communications or asynchronous messaging would
best serve the EVLA Monitor and Control System.

The report produced by this group is now available. The
report attempts to characterize the nature of the monitor
and control information to be distributed within the system,
and makes a recommendation as to the basic approach that is
felt to be the best fit to the staffing, timelines, and
requirements of the EVLA.

The report is entitled "EVLA Monitor and Control Communications
Infrastructure, Version 1.0.2". It is available on the EVLA
Computing Working Documents web page:

as document # 39.

Comments are welcome.
