This is what I forgot in my previous message.
I asked whether the 'system' over which the Device ID
is to be unique were the Deive, MIB, antenna, or the
entire VLA. This follows up on that question because
nowhere in the DDR do I find an explicit description
of which antenna the data is from. Within this scheme,
I see only two ways to find (or derive) antenna ID: it
is part of the Device ID, or it is implicit in the IP number
of the machine which sent the datagram. If the former,
we run the danger of not having a clear hierarchy of
similar devices in (almost) identical antennas. If the
latter, we have a difficult time knowing how to fit in
old (transitional) VLA antennas and, perhaps, future VLBA
or new VLA antennas. So, are Device IDs unique over an
antenna and qualified by antenna ID, or unique over the
entire VLA.
