Either given below or as an attachment is
a suggested outline for Chpt 9, EVLA
Monitor and Control, of the Project Book.
Comments are welcome.

Project Book Organization for Chapter 9, Monitor & Control
General Approach
We are required to have a Summary, followed by an Introduction, so
Summary
9.1 Introduction
A good next step would be something to give the reader some orientation
and an overview:
9.2 Description of the EVLA Monitor & Control System
9.2.1 General Requirements
9.2.2 General Design Considerations
After which I would like to adopt Kevin's suggestion for organization
by subsystem, with the general form:
x.a subsytem title
x.a.b subsystem general description
x.a.c subsystem requirements
x.a.c.1 hardware, if applicable
x.a.c.2 software, if applicable
x.a.d subsystem design
x.a.d.1 hardware, if applicable
x.a.d.2 software, if applicable
x.a.d.2.1 general description
x.a.d.2.2 systems software & middleware
x.a.d.2.3 applications software
with the subsections for hardware probably best left to George Peck
and Wayne Koski.
Finally, we will need major sections, plus yet to be defined subsections,
on the transition/hybrid array. I would expect that the bulk of the
discussion of the CMP and the upgraded correlator controller will fall
in the transition/hybrid array sections. However, some of our contemplated
uses of the CMP may more naturally fall elsewhere.
A very preliminary sketch of some of the sections for the transition phase
might be as follows:
y.a transition planning
y.b general overview of issues
y.c requirements
y.d design
y.d.1 the hybrid array
y.d.2 the CMP
y.d.3 the new correlator controller
...
I am using indentation in this document for the sake of clarity. In the
actual chapter, sections and subsections are NOT indented with respect
to one another.

Specific Outline
So far, we have defined three subsystems - antenna monitor and control,
correlator monitor and control, and the operational interface system.
We probably need to breakout & identify at least two more - the EVLA
M&C Network, and what I am calling the "observing layer".
A specific outline for the Project Book, as it might appear at this
time is as follows:
