This is one of the oddest requests. I did not like the designs of parseltoungue and obit in that they did not take advantage of the AIPS program itself and otherwise were in some way dependent on particular versions of AIPS. Nonetheless I explored the AIPS rsync area and discovered the library you requested. I have moved a copy to my ftp area ftp.aoc.nrao.edu/pub/staff/egreisen.<ftp://ftp.aoc.nrao.edu/pub/staff/egreisen.>

Dear Dr. Greisen, My name is Kriya Parmar, an undergraduate student at Dwarkadas J Sanghvi College Of Engineering, Mumbai .Currently I'm working as a Project Trainee at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad ,India. I'm currentlysetting up AIPS 31DEC13 (LNX64) on Ubuntu 22.04.1 under WSL2 for GMRT data reduction with SPAM (from http://www.intema.nl/doku.php?id=huibintema:spam:install). . During the AIPS 31DEC13 installation (`perl install.pl<http://install.pl> -n`), the process completes configuration but fails when it runs FILAIP: /home/kriyaparmar2004/spam/AIPS/31DEC13/LNX64/LOAD/FILAIP.EXE: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgfortran.so.3: version `GFORTRAN_1.0' not found /home/kriyaparmar2004/spam/AIPS/31DEC13/LNX64/LOAD/FILAIP.EXE: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgfortran.so.3: version `GFORTRAN_1.4' not found I have installed `gfortran` and `libgfortran5` on Ubuntu 22.04 and symlinked `libgfortran.so.5` to `libgfortran.so.3`. However, the AIPS 31DEC13 LNX64 binaries appear to expect an older `libgfortran.so.3` ABI (as in Ubuntu 16.04/18.04). My questions are: 1. Are you aware of a GNU‑compiled AIPS 31DEC13 LNX64 build that is compatible with `libgfortran5` on Ubuntu 20.04/22.04? 2. If not, do you recommend running AIPS 31DEC13 instead in an older‑Ubuntu WSL (e.g., 18.04) while keeping the rest of the Python/SPAM environment on 22.04? Thank you for your time and help.
Best regards,

Kriya Parmar
