aipsmail and daip are the same thing. The libtinfo file is provided in an area that is not use
since it causes major issues for many folks. It is provided however for those who might
need it. Copy it from the XTRA area to the INTELCMP directory.

Subject: [daip] AIPS and libtinfo5 {External}

I'm not sure whether this is an aipsmail or daip question:

AIPS (LNX64) seems to require libtinfo.so.5 to run. The strange thing is
that AIPS comes with it's own version of libtinfo.so.5, at e.g.
/home/aips/31DEC24/LNX64/LIBR/XTRA/libtinfo.so.5
but it doesn't actually use that one. On my Ubuntu 22.04 system
it uses the system one at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtinfo.so.5.9

I'm trying to install AIPS on a Debian system which has only
libtinfo.so.6 installed.

         thanks,          michael
