[daip] Issues installation AIPS: MAKE.BMNJ and FILAIP {External}

funny how nobody else encountered the same problem :)

Yes, the installation worked correctly !
Now I have a problem opening aips. I got to the final message saying:

AipsWiz: Here are the final setup instructions for running AIPS

1.  Reference the LOGIN.SH file in your .profile file
     or perhaps your .bashrc file
     (dot it now too, via ". ./LOGIN.SH")

2.  Check that it works:

aips notv tpok

     (this will not start a TV or tape servers).
   Try 'print 2 + 2' for a very basic test.


After doing these two steps I get the following error message:
START_AIPS: AIPS_ROOT is not a directory; cannot start AIPS.

Even though the AIPS_ROOT variable in the LOGIN.SH file is my AIPS folder
("/home/luca/AIPS").
By checking the .bashrc file, it looks like no new lines have been added by
step 1...

Hopefully this will be the last issue I'm asking you
