The MNJ only updates the version of AIPS which you have. To stay all
the way up to date, including new things and bug fixes announced in
recent AIPSLetters, you actually have to install the newer versions.
31DEC23 does not differ from 31DEC22 by much so far, but installing
31DEC23 now plus occasional MNJs would keep you current for quite a
while. Best practice is to install the latest version at some point
perhaps when the AIPSLetter shows something of interest to you.
CHANGE.DOC also is a good thing to monitor. It may be less work to
simply do as you suggest and install the latest when it comes out.
Cheers
