They did not set you up properly.  I have made the control files for TARIM.  You will need to set up a file called .dadves.always (not the period before dadevs).  It has the format for you as follows:+ /lustre/aoc/users/egreisen/AIPS/LUSTRE_1- /DATA/PRIMATE_1
+ /lustre/aoc/users/canderso/AIPS/LUSTRE_1- /home/tarim/AIPS/DA01
Note:  There are2 spaces between the + and / and between the - and /.
You will need to cd to /lustre/aoc/users/canderso and then
mkdir  AIPS    AIPS/LUSTRE_1
touch /AIPS/LUSTRE_1/SPACE

Then aips should work for you.
