Dear Helpdesk Team,
I am writing this message in order to seek a solution to the following:
I have installed the latest version of AIPS (31DEC20) on my Linux machine.
Q1. When starting AIPS, I am prompted for an AIPS userID. Can this be any number?
Q2. I have downloaded VLA data in the SDM format from the NRAO archive. This requires the tasks BDFLIST and BDF2AIPS to be run from within AIPS after the installation of OBIT as mentioned in https://science.nrao.edu/facilities/vla/archive/index. I have installed OBIT following the procedure given in https://svn.cv.nrao.edu/obit/index.html. I am using version 1.1.628 (AVX). I have also edited the 'dot.obitrc.py' file to specify the path to AIPS. When I run BDFLIST from within AIPS, I get the following message:
AIPS 2: TEXT FOR BDFLIST UNAVAILABLE
The same message appears for BDF2AIPS
AIPS 2: TEXT FOR BDF2AIPS UNAVAILABLE
Is OBIT correctly installed on my system? Please may I know how the OBIT can be correctly placed in the path of AIPS? How to successfully run the tasks BDFLIST and BDF2AIPS so that I can proceed further with data reduction?
Also, if sourcing OBIT using 'export PATH=/home/juhi64/OBIT/obit-distro-1.1.628/bin' is followed by starting AIPS, AIPS does not start.
Regards,
Juhi
