1. I know nothing about your experiment so I cannot comment. The experiment included many sources but I have no idea about what they may be. Some people observe many sources briefly simply to measure all of their current strengths (point sources tend to change with time). If you sent me the dates and project code I could also take a look and see if I can be more helpful.
2. I tend to prefer TVFLG for continuum flagging (1 or a small number of frequency channels). But you should look at the data in a variety of ways to become familiar with it. Old VLA data needs only a modest amount of flagging since common RFI frequencies could be avoided (unlike the current VLA that observes everything).
3 Running UVPLT produces message in your message window - are you look at that window? To come out on the TV display you must set DOTV=1.
4 The old VLA used CALCODE to indicate calibration sources. The LISTR output will show that. Blank means a target source, non-blank some level of calibration source. The explain file for SETJY shows the list of known primary calibration sources which are used to calibrate the flux of the probably time variable sources.
