       Dear Dr. Greissen :
I just got a new 16" Macbook Pro and try to install the latest AIPS version in my mac. After completing the installation and starting up AIPS, I got the error message of "Shared memory id failure: Invalid argument". This error often occurred to me before whenever I forgot to create the /etc/sysctl.conf file and set the paramters including  kern.sysv.shmmax: 16777216. In the past, I can fix this problem by simply creating the sysctl.conf file, but now I cannot fix the problem any more for my new Mac. The content of the sysctl.conf include the following lines :
kern.sysv.shmmax: 16777216 (or 10485760; I try both values)
kern.sysv.shmmin: 1kern.sysv.shmmni: 32kern.sysv.shmseg: 8kern.sysv.shmall: 4096
I do reboot the computer when I change values in sysctl.conf and I also try both values for shmmax. However, nothing works. Do I miss something in my AIPS installlation ?  Thanks !!!

regards
chengyu
