You need to set up one (or more) disk directories to hold your AIPS
data.  In each directory there must be a file named SPACE preferably
with wide open privileges.  You can make that by
cd data directory
touch SPACE
To tell AIPS about these data areas you need a file named .dadevs.always
(note that it starts with a dot).  Its contents could look like this:

+ /lustre/aoc/users/egreisen/AIPS/LUSTRE_1

where there are 2 spaces between the + and the start of the pathname to your data area.
