I think this has to do with bdfin/bdf2aips and how more recently calibrate_gain has split into both calibrate_amplitude+calibrate_phase. bdfin tries to follow the "explain calcode" scheme where the latter split does not appear so it gets calcode=Z. he should just edit the SU table and all will be fine if he uses vlarun/doosro or pipeaips.
