This sort of error suggests that the account you are using lacksprivilege to write on the first data area.  Since you are not at anNRAO site I cannot check that for you.It does not have to do with the user number, but the actual account.Enter in your xterm (not in aips)groupswhich will tell you to what groups you belong.  Then cd to thedirectory containing your data directory.  Do an ls -l and that willshow permissions by user, group, and world for the data directory.You may also need to do an ls -l in the data area itself, particularly ls -l SPACE.Eric Greisen
