My initial problem installing 31DEC18 AIPS on Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra) is resolved, so now I am trying to prime cvs for the MNJ.  (Not sure why that is needed if 31DEC18 uses rsync for updates, but BUILD.BMNJ requests it).  Unfortunately I get the following error: 

/Developer/usr/bin/cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs at mnj.aoc.nrao.edu :/home/aipssrc/cvs login

Illegal instruction: 4

What does illegal instruction 4 imply?  It is not clear to me if this is my installation or cvs at NRAO complaining.
