The ~/.AIPSRC file is only used by install.pl - no worries there.1.  When you get that message try "echo $PATH" which should point     to where the the $SYSLOCAL area is for 31DEC07.  This is most important     since I do not expect 31DEC17 to read 31DEC07 data and vice versa - at     least not without difficulties due to subtle changes in format.  You may have to     run 31DEC07 and make FITS files with FITTP or FITAB and then read them     back with 31DEC17.3. Can you tell me in detail what messages 31DEC17 provided when trying to    start aips with the 2 data directories in DADEVS.LIST?Eric Greisen
