Dear Eric,
Thank you for the reply. You're right that Navy network rules won't
allow a rsync and binary installation to proceed. I will try the install from
source. I appreciate the recommendations on compilers. I will have to ask for
a new gfortran version to match your recommendations, and I suspect
that will take time for our network support staff to install for me.
My current gfortran is a 4.x version so I will not build from source
until a newer gfortran is in place. Fortunately a laptop is recently available
on which I can do a binary installation so that may be my solution.
