You are attempting to use shared memory which cannot work acrossa remote connection.  See HELP XAS (inside AIPS) for informationabout how to turn this option off using the .Xdefaults file.  Normallyone has such a file (or can create it) in your home area.  After editing ityou get the machine to change its X settings with       xrdb -merge $HOME/.XdefaultsThe line you want in .Xdefaults isAIPStv*useSharedMemory: 0Eric Greisen
