XAS is giving the full display less 10 horizontally and less 100 
vertically.  This allows you to have your aips window behind and below 
the TV and still see a few lines of text.  This is what aips views as 
full screen.  But read HELP XAS to see about  the $HOME/.Xdefaults file 
which has options for AIPS.

When it is asking for a subimage, WIPER thinks that the full display 
will not fit (including labeling) so it requires you to select a 
sub-image before it goes into full operation,  Setting IMSIZE even 
smaller - imsize = 1800,950 for example should run without requiring a 
subimage.
